JTF Kills Boko Haram's Field Commander In Damaturu

The Operation Restore Order III of the Nigerian Army yesterday killed the field commander of the Boko Haram sect in Damaturu after a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours.
The Joint Task Force (JTF) in an email statement sent to our correspondent in Kaduna by the Army’s spokesman, lieutenant Eli Lazarus in Yobe state, said “In the early hours of Sunday, 7th October 2012, men of JTF in Damaturu, Yobe State on cordon and search operation in suspected Boko Haram hideout at Kandahar and the cemetery areas of Damaturu engaged in a gun battle with the suspected terrorists.”
He said, “about thirty (30) suspected Boko Haram Terrorists were killed in the battle which lasted several hours. In the battle, the notorious, one-eyed Bakaka, the field commander of Boko Haram in Damaturu and a close associate of Abubakar Shekau was killed.
Meanwhile, the Niger State police command has discovered a bomb manufacturing factory in Maitunmbi area of Minna, the Niger state capital believed to belong to the dreaded radical Boko Haram sect.
